Pool Update:

We are delighted to announce major progress in our goal to bring new pools to HMB! Last week the Cabrillo Board of Education approved inclusion of new pools in the High school modernization master plan.

 

The construction feasibility study that each of you FRIENDS members helped to fund has been accepted by the school board, and documented by vote as well as with a Certificate of Recognition received by Kirk and Liesl at the school board meeting last week. More updates to come soon.

Friends has made a substantial advancement toward bringing a new two-pool Aquatic Center to our coast!

 

Last week we presented to the CUSD Board of Trustees a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) stating our desire to fund a feasibility study for two pools at the high school. The MOU askes the district to allow the feasibility study, funded by Friends, to be done as a first step in getting new pools at the school, as it will determine the cost and location of the new Center, and thereby enable us to fundraise for the actual building project.  A link to a video of the presentation by Friends Board member, Liesl Taner, FOHMBPAR Pool Chairperson is below.  Our MOU is presented at 1:05:21 in the video of the meeting.  The next step is to have our MOU approved at the December CUSD Board meeting.

Help us build a new Coastal Aquatics Community space (a new pool) in Half Moon Bay

  

Please join us now!  In the last year we have made incredible progress in our plans for a new two pool concept for the community at the High School. As of September 2023, we have raised over $30,000 to put towards the feasibility study needed to begin the creation of the Aquatic Center. We are also delighted to share that we have partnered with the Aquatic Design Group RSM to help us achieve this dream. They are a renowned and established design group that were also used to design and build the pools in Sonomo. The pools shown below are Sonoma High School's new pools that opened in Summer 2022. 

We hope to build something similar at Half Moon Bay High School for our entire community to use.
